Description

With the theme of ‘passing on an intangible cultural heritage of fun through the diabolo’, this workshop offers participants an immersive experience in Chinese traditional culture.

The instructor will introduce the cultural background of Chinese acrobatics by tracing its development from the ancient baixi (literally ‘a hundred forms of entertainment’) to performing arts of today and demonstrate diabolo techniques.  Participants will also practise basic diabolo techniques under the instructor’s guidance, from holding the sticks and winding the string to simple shaking motions to accelerate the spinning spool.
